Trails

The Willows has its own walking paths within the subdivision; however, for the more serious outdoor enthusiasts, several trails are within a short distance.

Zionsville Rail Trail
This multi-use trail is a major component of the town's pathway system. The total length of the trail is 3.5 miles.

The trail begins at Nancy Burton Memorial Park (5A), which was donated to the Parks Department in 1991 by Lee Burton, in memory of his wife. At the southern terminus, a trail provides a connection to Starkey Park.

The trail continues north to Mulberry Street, where a tunel provides safe passage under the street. The section of trail that continues north to Country Road 875 East is known as the Dave Brown Rail Trail (5B).

Farm Heritage Trail
The Farm Heritage Trail (FHT) is a proposed multi-use trail along the former Big Four rail corridor between Zionsville and Lafayette, highlighting Indiana's rich agricultural heritage while providing a conduit for transportation, recreation, tourism and appropriately-scaled economic development. Ultimately this rural non-motorized path for walking, bicycling and horses will provide an unbroken 60+ mile trail connection between the Museum at Prophetstown and the future Cultural Trail in downtown Indianapolis.

Friends of Boone County Trails
The Friends of Boone County Trails (FBCT) is a group of concerned Boone County residents who promote the development of trailways in our community. The FBCT meets regularly to discuss strategies for acquiring and developing land for use in our efforts, as well as promote trail usage as part of a healthy and active community.
